Van Gogh didn’t kill himself?

petitpoulailler:

worldpaintings: Jean-Gabriel Domergue (French 1889-1962) ~ An Elegant Lady on a Bench,  oil on canvas, 73 x 60 cm, private collection.

Domergue was a French painter. From the 1920s onward he concentrated on portraits, and claimed to be “the inventor of the pin-up”. He also designed clothes for the couturier Paul Poiret.

From 1955 until 1962 he was the curator of the Musée Jacquemart-André, organising exhibitions of the works of Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, Goya and others.

Classical Head, Picasso

Can you tell there is a color palette that definitely pulls me in?

And he also has these crazy charcoals! This is Spirit.

Saint Sebastian, Odilon Redon

Guess where you can see this.

Portrait of Violette Heymann, Odilon Redon

Portrait of Sonia, Henri Fantin-Latour

I wish you could see this in person. Maybe you can, it’s at the National Gallery as part of the Chester Dale exhibit. The feathers on her hat, the ring on her finger, the ribbon in her dress… and her eyes. I could stare at this for ages.

Lorette with Turban, Matisse

incredible. This is now one of my favorite Matisses.
